Optional. Choose a local RSS 2.0 XML file, then explicitly import it. Import replaces the current form and preserves only the core fields supported above; extensions and unsupported fields are not copied.

What this generator produces

The output is an RSS 2.0 XML document with one <channel>. Channel title, link, and description are required. Items are optional, and each item must contain at least a title or description. The generator also supports item links, publication dates, author email, GUIDs, categories, one enclosure, and source attribution.

Every text and attribute value is encoded as XML rather than inserted as markup. For example, an ampersand becomes & and a less-than sign becomes <. This keeps titles, summaries, URLs with query strings, and pasted HTML text from breaking the document.

How to publish an RSS feed

Complete the channel fields, add items, and correct every blocking finding.
Download the XML and publish it from a stable HTTPS URL such as /feed.xml.
Advertise that URL in the page head with an alternate link whose type is application/rss+xml.
Test the published URL in multiple feed readers. Confirm its HTTP status, content type, caching, update process, and item identity behavior.

Dates, GUIDs, and media

Publication dates

RSS 2.0 dates follow the RFC 822 family of date formats. This tool treats the date-time controls as your device’s local time and emits an unambiguous four-digit-year GMT value such as Sun, 06 Sep 2026 14:30:00 GMT. Imported two-digit years from 00–49 map to 2000–2049 and 50–99 map to 1950–1999; UT, GMT, Z, numeric offsets, and the named US zones defined by the older mail-date grammar are converted deterministically. Leave a date blank when it is unknown; the tool does not invent publication times.

Stable GUIDs

Feed readers may use a GUID to decide whether an item is new. Keep a GUID stable when editing an existing item. A permalink GUID must be a usable absolute HTTP or HTTPS URL. A non-permalink GUID can be another stable unique string. If enabled, this tool uses an HTTP or HTTPS item link as the GUID only when the explicit field is blank.

Links and registered schemes

Channel website, permalink GUID, enclosure, and source-feed locations stay restricted to HTTP or HTTPS because readers must dereference them consistently. An item link may instead use an absolute HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, mailto, news, NNTP, or URN identifier. Non-web item links receive a compatibility warning because some readers assume an ordinary web page.

Enclosures and sources

An enclosure needs a URL, non-negative byte length of at most 20 digits, and standard MIME type together. The generator allows one enclosure per item, matching the core RSS model. Source attribution requires both the source feed’s name and its feed URL. Categories use one line per value so a comma inside a category survives export and re-import.

Validation and limitations

A valid XML snapshot is not an automatically updating feed. Your publishing system must regenerate and serve the file whenever content changes.

Local validation checks supported RSS 2.0 structure, required fields, XML characters, absolute URLs, dates, identifiers, categories, enclosure metadata, duplicate GUIDs, output size, and a parse-back of generated XML.
The form is limited to 25 items, 20 categories per item, 5,000 description characters per item, and 1 MiB imported files.
Import reads supported core fields only. It preserves seconds and commas inside line-separated categories, rejects invalid RSS dates and over-limit fields before replacing the form, and does not preserve namespaced extensions, images, cloud settings, skip schedules, or unsupported fields.
No URL is fetched. The tool cannot verify links, media length or MIME response headers, publication, reader compatibility, discovery, availability, redirects, or update frequency.
This generator produces RSS 2.0, not Atom, JSON Feed, Media RSS, Podcasting 2.0, or platform-specific podcast metadata.

Privacy

Channel fields, items, imported XML, and generated output remain in the current browser tab. This tool does not upload, store, fetch, host, publish, or submit the feed. Reset removes current form values and output from the interface.
