Browser-ready icon workshop

Favicon Generator

Turn a logo, image, letter, or emoji into a complete favicon package. Preview the tiny sizes that matter, then download ICO, PNG, Apple, web-app, maskable, manifest, and installation files together.

🔒 Local processing — your artwork is not uploaded

Create your icon set

Start with text or a common raster image. Every output is rendered independently for a crisp square canvas.

1. Choose a source

Use a bold initial or recognizable emoji. Detailed words disappear at 16 pixels.

2. Name and color

Used in the generated web app manifest.

May appear beneath an installed home-screen icon.

Ready. Adjust the sample “A” or choose an image.

How to get a favicon that stays recognizable

A favicon is viewed in browser tabs, bookmarks, search results, home screens, and installed web apps. Each surface can select a different file, crop it, or apply a mask.

1. Simplify at 16 pixels

Use one bold shape, initial, or symbol. Fine lines and long words may look polished at 512px but merge into noise in a tab. Check the true-size previews and increase padding if the edges feel crowded.

2. Install the whole set

Upload the ZIP contents without renaming them, add the generated link tags, and keep those URLs stable. The ICO covers a conventional fallback, PNGs serve browser sizes, Apple uses its touch icon, and the manifest describes web-app icons.

3. Verify after deployment

Open each icon URL directly, confirm a successful image response and correct MIME type, then hard-refresh or clear favicon caches. Search engines may take days or weeks to recrawl, and meeting their guidelines does not guarantee display.

What the files mean

  • 16/32/48/96 PNG: explicit browser and search-size choices.
  • favicon.ico: 16, 32, and 48px images in one fallback file.
  • 180 PNG: Apple home-screen web clip.
  • 192/512 PNG: ordinary web-app manifest icons.
  • Maskable 192/512: padded artwork for platform-shaped masks.

Privacy and safety

Image decoding, resizing, ICO assembly, manifest creation, and ZIP packaging run locally in your browser. This tool makes no image/API request and stores no project. Closing or resetting the page discards its in-memory work.

Important limitations

SVG, HEIC, animation, remote URLs, and existing-site scans are intentionally unsupported. Animated images are not silently reduced to a frame. Emoji appearance depends on your operating system, and a manifest alone does not make a site installable or offline-capable.

The output follows the HTML icon link model, the W3C web app manifest format, Apple's documented 180px touch-icon convention, and Google Search favicon guidance. The contrast figure for text icons is a design aid, not a WCAG conformance result.
